Qualifications

Job Summary

A growing public sector organization is seeking a Grants Manager, also known as a Sponsored Programs and Post-Award Manager, to support an expanding portfolio of federal and state grants. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced grants professional who understands post-award administration and wants to help build strong processes, improve compliance, and support long‑term program success.

This is not a grant‑writing role. The focus is on post‑award grant management, financial monitoring, compliance, reporting, closeout, and supporting Principal Investigators and internal stakeholders throughout the award lifecycle.

The Grants Manager will join a collaborative environment with supportive leadership, meaningful public sector work, and the opportunity to shape a growing Sponsored Programs function. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, approachable, and comfortable guiding others through complex sponsor and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage sponsored awards from award setup through reporting, compliance monitoring, documentation, and closeout.
  • Serve as a key resource for Principal Investigators, helping them understand sponsor requirements, deadlines, deliverables, and reporting obligations.
  • Monitor grant activity for compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and internal requirements.
  • Track cost share, indirect costs, F&A, financial requirements, reporting timelines, and award documentation.
  • Coordinate with Finance, leadership, Principal Investigators, and internal stakeholders to keep sponsored projects on track.
  • Develop and improve grant processes, workflows, tracking tools, procedures, and policies to support a scalable Sponsored Programs function.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation: $65,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Job type: Long‑term contract or temp‑to‑hire.
  • Location: Greenwood, SC.
  • Temp‑to‑hire arrangement: Candidates must be able and willing to work fully on‑site in Greenwood, SC to transition into a permanent position.
  • Long‑term contract arrangement: Remote work may be considered- candidates unable or unwilling to ultimately work on‑site will be considered for the contract opportunity only.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Manage post‑award grant administration, compliance, reporting, and award closeout.
  • Support Principal Investigators and grant stakeholders with sponsor requirements, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Monitor financial and compliance requirements, including cost share, indirect costs, F&A, and award documentation.
  • Help develop processes, workflows, tracking systems, and policies for sponsored programs administration.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in sponsored programs, sponsored projects, research administration, grants and contracts, post‑award administration, or federal grant compliance.
  • Experience working with federal and/or state grants.
  • Strong understanding of post‑award compliance, reporting requirements, financial monitoring, and sponsor regulations.
  • Experience supporting Principal Investigators, program leaders, or grant/project stakeholders.
  • Ability to track deadlines, deliverables, award documentation, reporting requirements, and closeout activities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Highly organized, proactive, personable, and comfortable helping others navigate complex grant requirements.
  • Ability to work in an evolving environment and contribute to process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a public sector, higher education, research, nonprofit, or government‑funded grants environment.
  • Experience helping establish or improve sponsored programs processes, procedures, tracking systems, or compliance workflows.
  • Familiarity with federal grant regulations, sponsor reporting expectations, and audit‑ready documentation practices.
  • Experience coordinating with Finance teams on grant budgets, expenditures, indirect costs, and cost share tracking.
