Job summary

The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) seeks an Accountant II to join its Finance Team in Boston, MA. The Accountant II will support grant and contract management, financial reporting, budgeting, procurement, and accounting, collaborating with MAPC Finance and internal staff.

Responsibilities include coordinating contract administration, monitoring expenditures, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate project labor tracking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience; or a master's degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and standard accounting practices.
• Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint or similar financial management software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate contract administration, monitor grant expenditures, manage invoicing, and support financial reporting and compliance.
• Prepare financial reports, support annual budget development, monitor expenditures, and analyze budget-to-actual results.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable activities, support financial reconciliations and closing processes, and ensure accurate tracking of project expenditures and labor costs.
• Support procurement activities, ensure compliance with applicable regulations and financial policies, and assist with audits and internal controls.
• Work with staff and MAPC Finance to resolve financial issues, improve procedures, and support effective financial management.
