MACT Health Board Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Finance Department. The role supports budgeting, grant accounting, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with government funding regulations and internal controls.

The candidate will handle payroll-related tasks, assist with monthly closings, grant reporting, and coordination of financial plans. A strong emphasis on accuracy and regulatory compliance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required; experience may substitute for degree.
• 6 years progressive accounting experience with minimum 3 years in budgeting and fund accounting for governmental/non-profit/tribal organizations including grant experience.
• Working knowledge of governmental funding regulations.
• Understanding of fund accounting.
• Ability to handle checks, money, and sensitive material.
• Knowledge of fiscal management budgeting techniques and accounting systems in non-profit settings (preferred).
• Knowledge in the medical industry (preferred).
• Valid CA driver's license and proof of insurance; clean DMV record and MACT insurance eligibility.
• Adherence to MACT Health Board Inc. Code of Conduct.
• Compliance with MACT policies and procedures.
• Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
• Must possess valid I-9 compliant identification (E-Verify).
• Clean DMV record and MACT auto insurance eligibility.

Responsabilités

• Assigned to do secretarial/clerical administrative support duties in the Finance Department.
• Set-up new hires in the accounting system and cross-check with electronic payroll; verify payroll data accuracy.
• Assist Finance Director & Controller with drafting End-Of-Month General Journal Entries and review reporting for accuracy.
• Provide backup with general duties: bank deposits, purchase orders, equipment tracking, invoicing, etc., and manage contracts with funding sources and government standards.
• Monitor budgets and prepare timely cost reports for funding agencies.
• Prepare regular financial reports for staff and Board; in absence of Finance Director, present reports to committees/Board.
• Assist in cost reports and maintenance of policies for financial management.
• Identify grant opportunities; monitor grant performance and prepare grant reports as specified.
• Coordinate grant applications and maintain MACT active status on government websites.
• Assist in developing financial plans and budgets for MACT Health Board, Inc.
• Assist Controller in audit preparation and internal controls maintenance.
• Maintain accounting software for Finance Department.
• Assist with special Finance projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
