Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) seeks an Accountant II to manage timely payments, maintain ledgers, and prepare financial documents for multiple districts. The role requires accuracy, knowledge of state accounting, and collaboration with district staff.

Responsibilities include processing payments in Mosaic, data entry in Project Info, and ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines. A 2+ year accounting background and related substitutions are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 2 years of professional accounting or auditing experience
• Substitutions: Associate degree may substitute up to 1 year; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for required experience
• Experience with state/federal accounting rules is a plus

Responsibilities

• Process timely and accurate payments for multiple districts using Mosaic and related systems
• Enter payment documents in Project Info and Mosaic
• Review and enter VCC/VCM data into Mosaic
• Encumber funds to ensure proper payment of bills
• Prepare fiscal reports and respond to inquiries
• Maintain filing systems and ledgers for assigned invoices
