Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Post-Award Financial Specialist within Sponsored Programs Financial Services to implement and execute post-award and financial management activities for grants, contracts and clinical trials. You will handle award set-up, invoicing, cash management and reporting, ensuring GAAP compliance and sponsor guideline adherence.

You will monitor close-outs, prepare complex financial reports and coordinate with management and program staff to meet deadlines and accuracy standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, budget planning and financial analysis with the ability to interpret and apply fiscal regulations (preferred with focus on clinical research or healthcare)
• Ability to assess, research, and resolve complex financial and compliance issues while applying sound judgment.
• Deep understanding of financial management in a clinical trial setting and compliance and auditing background

Responsibilities

• Compliance Management: maintain compliance with allowable costs, period of performance, subrecipient monitoring, cost share, program income, reporting and other provisions.
• Invoicing, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management: invoice promptly, follow-up on payments, and ensure proper cash recording.
• Month-end Close: prepare journal entries and ensure GAAP and sponsor guidance alignment.
• Reporting: prepare financial reports and meet deadlines, translate numbers into narrative.
• Project Closeout: complete closeout documentation, ensure cost shares, remove unallowable costs, and close cost centers.
• Audit: ensure compliance with regulations and assist auditors with documentation.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.
