Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Post-Award Financial Specialist to manage grant, contract, and clinical trial financial activities. You will handle award setup, invoicing, cash management, and month-end close, ensuring GAAP compliance and sponsor requirements.

You will prepare financial reports, monitor cost share, and assist with audit readiness, working across departments to ensure accurate, timely financial information in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, budget planning and financial analysis with the ability to interpret and apply fiscal regulations (preferred with focus on clinical research or healthcare)
• Ability to assess, research, and resolve complex financial and compliance issues while applying sound judgment.
• This position requires a deep understanding of financial management in a clinical trial setting, expertise in research accounting, and a strong background in compliance and auditing

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with sponsor terms and regulations and maintain adherence to GAAP and Uniform Guidance.
• Process invoicing, accounts receivable, and cash management; follow up on delayed payments and ensure proper cash recording.
• Support month-end close with journal entries and accurate financial reporting per institutional policies.
• Prepare simple to complex financial reports in partnership with management and program staff.
• Oversee project closeout, cost sharing, and removal of unallowable costs; ensure proper documentation for audits.
