The Basics
- Location: Council Bluffs, IA
- Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
- Days/Hours: 2nd shift (2 pm–midnight, Mon–Thu) with additional weekend work required
- Equipment Used: Various grain handling equipment, primarily conveyors and legs

What You’ll Be Doing
The Shift Manager is responsible for providing training, support and assistance to hourly team members and ensuring a safe, sanitary workplace in compliance with company policies and regulations.
Specific Duties
- Commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance and adherence to company policies.
- Handling grain operations: loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, drying, storage, aeration and fumigation.
- Assisting with supervision and management of personnel and operational activities.
- Planning business activities to meet pre‑set objectives.
- Using various equipment and controls: weighing, measuring, operating pumps, conveyors, levers and valves.
- Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities, storage locations, equipment performance and downtime.
- Cleaning, sterilizing and maintaining equipment and work stations with appropriate tools and chemicals.
- Observing conveyor operations and monitoring lights, dials and gauges to detect malfunctions.
- Participating in preventative maintenance protocols and elevator operations.
- Communicating tasks, directives and policies to senior management and team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in a grain handling facility or similar.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ag Mechanics, Ag Business or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read, write, understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Availability to work overtime and weekends.
- Professional demeanor: safety conscious, clean, quality of work, strong verbal communication.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Physical Requirements
- Physically strenuous work.
- Work in tight and confined spaces.
- Work at heights and use ladders.
- Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds and sometimes more.
- Wearing PPE required.
