Meijer Inc. in Glen Carbon/Edwardsville, IL, opens Spring 2027. We’re seeking a General Merchandise Dept Manager to lead team engagement, coaching, and operations in a brand-new store serving the St. Louis metro area.

You’ll drive staffing, budget, safety, and training, while developing talent and ensuring excellent service. Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years retail leadership required; travel for training until opening.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Strong service mindset and customer focus.
• Ability to analyze financial data to drive decisions.
• Commitment to safety and operational standards.
• Experience with merchandising and regional store operations.

Responsibilities

• Engage and develop team members with onboarding and coaching.
• Identify talent and plan staffing to support growth.
• Lead discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversee area operations and financial performance including budgets.
• Ensure safety and compliance across the store.
• Guide Team Leaders and Leads with daily tasks.
