Compass Forwarding Co., Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented FMS / Import-Export Specialist to join our team in Jamaica, NY.

This role focuses on coordinating import/export operations, preparing shipping documents, and ensuring regulatory compliance across ITAR, EAR, and hazardous materials requirements. You will liaise with freight forwarders, brokers, vendors, and internal teams, track shipments, and maintain meticulous records.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in import/export, freight forwarding, or logistics.
• Experience with ITAR, EAR, and export compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of DOT, IATA, and IMDG hazardous materials regulations.
• Dangerous Goods handling experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related import/export software.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate import and export operations.
• Prepare and review shipping documentation, invoices, and customs paperwork.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, vendors, and internal departments.
• Track shipments and ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain accurate import/export records and documentation.
• Resolve shipping, customs, and logistics-related issues.
• Manage export documentation, licenses, and compliance records.
• Coordinate hazardous materials (HAZMAT) shipments per DOT, IATA and IMDG regulations.
• Ensure proper classification, packaging, labeling and marking of hazardous materials.
