Job summary

Advanced Tech Placement in New York seeks a Senior Director of Quality Engineering to lead an automation-first QE organization across global teams, setting strategy for QA, test management, and release readiness. You will guide architecture of test automation platforms and partner with Engineering and DevOps to embed quality gates in CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field; master’s preferred.
• 12+ years in software quality engineering with 5+ years in management leading distributed teams.
• Hands-on QE experience in P&C Insurance industry.
• Strong expertise in QE operations, automation frameworks, SDLC integration, and test management.
• Hands-on automation tools including Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Tosca, Appium, Postman, Rest Assured, Karate, JMeter, and related performance tools.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
• Proven track record driving automation adoption and improving quality KPIs.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a global QE organization including managers, test leads, and automation specialists.
• Define and execute enterprise-wide QE and test automation strategies aligned with digital transformation.
• Establish automation as the default testing approach across functional, integration, API, data, and performance testing.
• Drive adoption of modern QE practices such as shift-left/right, continuous testing, and quality observability.
• Own architecture and continual improvement of enterprise test automation frameworks and platforms.
• Drive automation across web, API, data, microservices, and cloud-native apps.
• Develop intelligent test automation leveraging AI-assisted generation and self-healing frameworks.
• Develop scalable QE platforms enabling rapid creation and maintenance of automated tests.
• Standardize frameworks, coding standards, and testing patterns across technology domains.
• Partner with Engineering/DevOps to implement automated quality gates in CI/CD workflows.
• Monitor QE metrics including automation coverage, execution rates, defect escape, release quality, MTTR, and CI/CD gate compliance.
• Utilize data-driven insights to identify risks and optimization opportunities.
• Develop executive dashboards on application health, release readiness, and automation maturity.
• Drive measurable improvements in software quality and engineering productivity.
• Champion emerging QE tech including Generative AI and autonomous testing.
