Job summary

Datavant seeks an Engineering Manager to lead Platform Continuity, a new team under Cloud Platform Engineering. You’ll guide senior and staff-level SREs across the US, Ireland, and Spain, shaping intake, playbooks, and automation initiatives to keep systems healthy and scalable.

This is a build-from-scratch leadership role with a strong emphasis on operational discipline and clear ownership boundaries. The role requires AWS expertise, Terraform/IaC, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), and Datadog experience,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience with distributed or international teams across time zones.
• Strong technical foundation in cloud infrastructure operations to guide Staff-level SREs.
• Knowledge of Terraform/IaC and managing infrastructure state at scale.
• Kubernetes operational knowledge (EKS/AKS) and cloud experience (AWS required, Azure a plus).
• Hands-on experience with observability platforms such as Datadog (monitoring, alerts, dashboards).
• Ability to build runbooks, SLAs, intake processes, and escalation paths.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and retain a team of senior and staff-level SREs distributed across multiple time zones.
• Own the Operational Intake & Acceptance process with runbooks and context for each handoff.
• Drive shift-left automation and partner with Cloud Platform Tools to reduce repeatable work.
• Manage operational work across IaC hygiene, VDI, monitoring, cost management, and client support.
• Establish and track the team’s north star metric for Keep The Lights On (KTLO) reduction.
• Build a repeatable, auditable playbook library for operations.
• Define intake criteria to keep ITSD scope within defined boundaries.
• Collaborate with leadership to maintain clear ownership boundaries and cross-cutting work.
• Serve as escalation point for platform-layer issues requiring orchestration across teams.
