Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead Platform Continuity, the operational backbone of our multi-cloud infrastructure. You will guide a distributed team of senior SREs across US, Ireland, and Spain, driving reliability through structured playbooks and automation.

You will establish intake criteria, runbooks, and scalability patterns while leading shift-left initiatives. This role emphasizes strong communication, ownership boundaries, and collaboration with Cloud Platform teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing distributed or international teams across multiple time zones.
• Strong technical foundation in cloud infrastructure operations and credibility with Staff-level SREs.
• Knowledge of Terraform/IaC; hands-on experience with state management and workspace hygiene at scale.
• Solid Kubernetes operational knowledge (EKS/AKS) and cluster health management.
• Experience with AWS (required) and Azure (strong plus) in regulated environments.
• Hands-on experience with observability platforms Datadog including monitor management, alerting, and dashboards.
• Demonstrated ability to build operational discipline: runbooks, SLAs, intake processes, and escalation paths.
• Clear communication skills for defining scope boundaries and cross-team collaboration.
• Comfort with ambiguity and defining operating model in parallel with execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and retain a team of senior and staff-level SREs distributed across the US, Ireland, and Spain.
• Own the Operational Intake & Acceptance process: ensure runbooks, architecture context, validated access, and knowledge transfer are in place.
• Drive a shift-left mandate to automate repeatable patterns and partner with the Cloud Platform Tools team to eliminate them where possible.
• Manage operational work across IaC/Terraform hygiene, VDI/end-user compute, monitoring upkeep, cloud cost management, and SRE-level support.
• Establish and track the team's north star metric: KTLO percentage reduction from an 86% baseline with quarterly breakdowns.
• Build and maintain a playbook library to make work reproducible, auditable, and automatable.
• Define intake criteria to keep ITSD scope separate from Platform Continuity responsibilities.
• Coordinate with Cloud Platform leadership to maintain clear ownership boundaries.
• Serve as escalation point for platform issues including production access, SSL management, and state remediation.
