Job summary

The Vertex Companies is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee domestic and international payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions. This role leads payroll administration, develops and maintains payroll processes, and partners with HR, Finance, Tax, and external providers to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience (or 8 years with no degree) and 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Progressive payroll experience including at least 3 years in a payroll leadership or management role.
• Hands-on experience managing payroll through Workday along with ADP tax compliance.
• Experience with Workday Payroll, Workday HCM, and payroll integrations.
• Experience managing international payroll operations across multiple countries.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and international employees.
• Oversee biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls.
• Review payroll registers, audits, reconciliations, and exception reports.
• Ensure proper calculation and processing of wages, bonuses, equity, and other payments.
• Lead payroll-related accounting activities and general ledger interfaces.
• Serve as primary administrator for Workday payroll systems.
• Maintain payroll configurations, tax setups, and org structures.
• Coordinate with external payroll providers and tax advisors.
