Job summary

The Vertex Companies, LLC seeks a Payroll Manager to oversee domestic and international payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely processing across jurisdictions. You will lead system administration for Workday, collaborate with HR, Finance, Tax, and external providers, and ensure regulatory compliance worldwide.

You will drive process improvements, manage cross-border payroll challenges, and mentor a growing payroll team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience and no degree, and 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Bachelors/Masters with leadership experience in payroll; global exposure welcome.
• Progressive payroll experience including leadership role and cross-functional collaboration.
• Hands-on Workday payroll experience with ADP tax compliance.
• Strong Workday Payroll and HCM experience; international payroll knowledge.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations and payroll accounting.
• Experience with third-party global payroll providers and international vendors.
• Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables and lookups.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and international employees.
• Oversee biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls.
• Review payroll registers, audits, reconciliations, and exception reports.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, equity compensation, and other payments.
• Manage payroll-related accounting activities, including accruals and GL interfaces.
• Serve as the primary administrator for Workday payroll systems.
• Lead payroll system testing for upgrades and acquisitions.
• Coordinate with external providers and finance teams for reporting and funding.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational restructuring from payroll perspective.
