Job summary

Remote.com is seeking a Global Payroll Lead to oversee payroll across regions from a fully remote position. You will act as a country/region expert, lead implementation projects, and coordinate with sales, clients, and Payroll Operations.

The role emphasizes async work, KPI focus, and cross-border compliance. The annual salary ranges from €71,850 to €80,800 EUR, with benefits and a flexible, location-independent work environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive payroll experience in a client payroll environment.
• Expert legislative knowledge for the relevant country.
• Payroll implementation experience.
• Strong communication skills for explaining payroll processes and issues to customers and other stakeholders.
• Deep knowledge of local payroll tools and software like SAP, Excel / Google Sheets.
• Analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact.
• Experience in accounting/reconciliations.
• A productivity-focused mindset — constantly thinking of ways to improve and speed up work.
• Prior remote work experience is not required but considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as a true subject matter expert for the specified country or region.
• Attend sales calls as the Country Payroll Lead.
• Participate in sales hand-over, lead client hand-over, and client kick-off calls.
• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of global payroll implementation projects, ensuring timely delivery.
• Lead the process from inception through parallel runs and the first month of live payroll before handing over to Payroll Operations.
• Ensure that a record of all decisions made throughout the implementation process is maintained, and that Payroll Operations have full visibility, including any Standard Operating Procedures required for Business As Usual.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans and timelines.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the implementation process, including internal teams and customers.
• Develop and implement standardised payroll processes, project plans, and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Provide ongoing support during and after implementation to resolve any issues or challenges.
• Support the wider implementation team (including Payroll Generalists) and the operations team.
• Maintain a focus on KPIs and SLAs.
• Implement and improve processes continuously.
• Mentor, support, and lead Payroll Generalists working alongside you.
• Work with internal teams to improve the platform, completing UAT testing through to shipping and ensuring all changes are documented.
