Welltower Inc. is seeking a Manager, Payroll & Benefits Accounting to lead the accounting and reporting for payroll, employee benefits, STI, and T&E across global operations.

The role partners with Human Capital, Finance, IT, and external auditors to ensure accurate GL reflection, robust controls, and scalable processes. Ideal candidates bring strong technical accounting knowledge, experience with payroll in complex or multi-country environments, and a track record of improving and automating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA or other relevant professional designation preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience with payroll, benefits, compensation, or other employee-related accounting.
• Experience supporting payroll accounting within a large, complex, multi-entity organization strongly preferred.
• Global or multi-country payroll accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accruals, and internal controls.
• Experience with ERP, payroll, or HRIS implementations; Workday experience is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to improve, automate, and scale accounting processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex accounting and data issues.
• Experience leading, developing, or overseeing accounting team members.
• Ability to partner effectively across Accounting, Human Capital, Payroll, IT, Finance, and other functions.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll, benefits, incentive compensation, and T&E accounting across operations.
• Oversee payroll-related journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts.
• Partner with Payroll, Human Capital, Finance, IT to reflect activity in the GL.
• Support Workday implementation; define requirements and configurations.
• Streamline and automate payroll and benefits processes.
• Develop scalable processes and internal controls for global platforms.
• Resolve complex payroll and benefits accounting issues across countries.
• Establish and maintain payroll-related documentation and reconciliations.
• Manage and develop payroll accounting team members.
• Coordinate with internal/external audits; provide support and documentation.
• Monitor expense trends and investigate anomalies.
• Explore expanding responsibilities to stock-based comp, severance, etc.
• Support special projects and other accounting initiatives.
