Job summary

Cboe Global Markets is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to anchor the design, scalability, and evolution of our distributed, latency‑sensitive trading networks across on‑prem and cloud environments. The role combines architectural leadership with hands‑on engineering at the Chicago HQ, including design reviews and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on network engineering in mission-critical, low-latency environments.
Expertise in low-latency deterministic network design and latency analysis.
Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and multicast in global networks.
Experience with hybrid cloud connectivity (AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway).
Experience building Python-based network automation for config management.

Responsibilities

Design and evolve low-latency, highly resilient network architecture across global data centers, co-location, and cloud environments.
Lead advanced routing design and implementation across global environments (BGP/OSPF/MPLS/multicast).
Conduct deep technical research, lab validation, and pre-implementation testing for major initiatives.
Produce detailed technical designs, migration runbooks, and capacity plans for large-scale changes.
Develop Python-based automation to support configuration management and testing.
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and business teams including budgeting for hardware/software.
Mentor engineers and drive architecture reviews and best practices.
Contribute to monitoring/telemetry strategies using Prometheus and Grafana.
Create design standards and regulatory/audit-facing materials when needed.
