Job summary

Cboe Global Markets seeks a Principal Network Engineer to lead low-latency, deterministic network design across on-prem and cloud environments. You will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and ensure operational reliability with modern observability tools.

You will design high-performance networks, guide complex projects from design to execution, and develop Python-based automation to support configuration management and testing.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in mission-critical, low-latency environments.
• Deep expertise in low-latency and deterministic network design with latency and end-to-end traffic analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of routing protocols at scale: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, multicast; resilient global networks.
• Strong understanding of network hardware across major vendors; hands-on lab validation.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve low-latency, highly resilient network architecture across data centers, co-location, and cloud environments.
• Lead advanced routing design and implementation across global environments: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, multicast; high availability patterns.
• Conduct deep technical research, lab validation, and pre-implementation testing; evaluate hardware capabilities.
• Lead complex projects from design to execution with runbooks, capacity plans, and guidance.
• Develop Python-based network automation for configuration management and testing; API-driven and SSH-based.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, applications, and business teams to align network design with goals and budgeting.
• Mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and raise engineering standards across the org.
• Operate in a fast-moving environment; balance long-term direction with immediate needs.
• Contribute to monitoring/telemetry strategy using Prometheus, Grafana, and related tools.
• Support regulatory/audit materials and design documentation as needed.
