Job summary

Maersk is seeking an Operations Coordinator in Oakley, CA. The role focuses on controlling freight forwarding shipments across multiple modes, delivering high-level operations excellence and quality customer service while maintaining station KPIs.

Essential duties include tracking shipments, inspecting freight, contracting carriers, load tendering, and providing load status updates to customers and stations. Weekend on-call rotations and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Excel experience is required.
• Must be able to type 35+ words per minute.
• Must be able to work in demanding, high-volume environment, particularly with email and calls.
• Proficient in Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

• Tracking and tracing outbound shipments.
• Inspecting outbound freight.
• Contracting new carriers and assigning load tenders.
• Communicating freight status to other stations and customers, and updating the system.
• Provide customer service.
• Able to work overtime and weekends on call rotations.
• Data entry of shipments into transportation management system.
• Quoting, costing and invoicing of international shipments, air, ocean and ground.
• Domestic air and ground routing (including Canada).
• Contract new carriers.
• Negotiate freight rates and develop carrier relationships.
• Assigning carriers and providing load tenders.
• Find and develop new logistics/freight opportunities and design carrier solutions for other Pilot offices and external customers.
