Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in San Francisco seeks an Operations Engineer to lead cross-functional projects and deliver the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You will manage schedules, engage stakeholders, and ensure timely handovers while minimizing disruption to operations.

This role requires up to 80% travel, relocation support may be provided, and candidates should live near or relocate to the office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
• 1+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related STEM field (preferred).
• Operations Management/Distribution Center experience with material handling, automation, or other technical projects (preferred).
• Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet programs (preferred).
• Experience with design and/or implementation automation solutions (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex project lifecycles across organizations and geographies.
• Participate in engineering reviews and impact system solutions, architecture, and facility processes.
• Partner with internal teams and vendors to set priorities, milestones, and drive schedules.
• Lead execution of systems and automated equipment designs per standards; perform installation and throughput qualifications.
• Document discussions and decisions to ensure alignment.
• Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans to leadership.
• Articulate system and equipment designs to internal customers and partners.
• Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice approvals.
