Job summary

Merck & Co. in the USA seeks the Head, Site Budgets to lead the global site budgeting capability and the Trial Initiation Specialist organization. You will shape budget strategy, drive performance, and ensure governance and regulatory alignment across regions and countries.

You will partner with regional teams to implement consistent operating models, leverage data insights, and influence senior leadership decisions to accelerate trial execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in scientific, business, or related field is required.
• 10+ years of clinical research experience in pharma/biotech, incl. leading operational teams.
• Experience managing teams and driving business outcomes in complex environments.
• Strong data-driven decision-making and stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Own the global Site Budgets capability and strategic direction.
• Lead the Trial Initiation Specialist (TIS) organization for workforce and performance.
• Provide senior leadership on budget strategy, FMV, and trends.
• Establish a globally consistent site budget operating model.
• Build strategic relationships across country, regional, and global teams.
• Promote risk-based decision-making with proper governance.
• Use data and market insights to guide priorities and decisions.
• Partner to define requirements and enable processes and systems.
• Represent Regional Operations in governance forums.
• Ensure budget decisions align with regulations and standards.
• Foster accountability, negotiation excellence, and continuous improvement.
