Job summary

Veeva Systems seeks a Global Data Science Lead to drive the Data Science AI strategy within Global Analytics. You will lead data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and analysts, translating strategy into delivery across life sciences data.

You will own methodology, oversee ML and generative AI model work, and ensure scalable data infrastructure while partnering with product and business stakeholders to apply AI in engagements.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field with 5+ years of industry experience, or MS with 8+ years of research experience.
• Experience in Life Sciences analytics and applying analytics/AI/ML to related data sets.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-based systems including prompt engineering, RAG, agentic workflows, or fine-tuning.
• Proven leadership of teams of 10+ people.
• Excellent communication to explain complex AI solutions to team members and clients.
• Comfortable with changing requirements and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Science function within the Global Analytics Team.
• Mentor and manage a team of data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and analysts.
• Translate strategy into team priorities and delivery plans.
• Own global methodology—model management, observability, testing, and deployment.
• Foster collaboration between consulting, data science, and engineering teams.
• Oversee advanced analytics, ML, and generative AI model design and deployment.
• Ensure robust, scalable data and AI infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into AI-native solutions.
• Surface opportunities for applying AI with stakeholders.
• Enforce data quality, security, governance, and responsible AI practices.
• Implement and maintain rigorous testing procedures for data, ML, and AI models.
