Job summary

Veeva Systems, Inc. seeks a Global Data Science Lead to guide a cross-functional team of data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and analysts.

You will translate strategy into delivery, applying advanced analytics, ML, and generative AI to life sciences data, with a focus on robust, scalable data solutions. You will partner with Global Analytics leadership and product teams to set priorities, manage model lifecycle, and ensure responsible AI practices while fostering collaboration across consulting

Qualifications

• PhD in Economics, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or 8+ years with MS.
• Experience in Life Sciences analytics and applying analytics and AI/ML to related data sets.
• Hands-on experience building or deploying LLM-based systems (prompt engineering, RAG, agentic workflows, or fine-tuning).
• Proven leadership of teams of 10+ people.
• Excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills; ability to handle non-standard problems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain complex AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Science function within the Global Analytics Team, aligning with Analytics Business Consulting goals.
• Mentor a team of data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and analysts.
• Partner with Global Analytics leadership to translate strategy into team priorities and delivery plans.
• Own global methodology – model management, observability, testing, and deployment.
• Foster collaboration between consulting, data science, and engineering teams for AI-driven data solutions.
• Oversee the design and deployment of advanced analytics, ML, and generative AI models.
• Ensure robust, scalable data and AI infrastructure supporting deliverables.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into AI-native solutions.
• Work with product/business stakeholders to surface AI opportunities within engagements.
• Enforce best practices for data quality, security, governance, and responsible AI.
