Job summary

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. (HIMSS) in the United States seeks a senior accounting leader to manage all accounting operations and ensure a complete and timely financial close for HIMSS and related entities.

You will develop and enforce financial policies, oversee A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets, and currency translation, and coordinate with external auditors to support audits and tax filings. Strong leadership and NetSuite experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• A minimum of ten (10) years (full-time) experience in industry or public accounting, including experience managing remote teams and with international operations.
• Exceptional accounting and analytical skills; deadline-focused; professional standard of ethics.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop accounting professionals.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills; able to create initiatives and manage outcomes.
• Demonstrable experience utilizing technology to meet financial close goals; NetSuite experience highly preferred.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Direct the activities of the Accounting Department related to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and deliver reconciled financial information.
• Develop and enforce financial policies to safeguard assets.
• Manage accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts, and merchant accounting.
• Oversee accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, expense reports, cash control, payroll processing, and payroll tax compliance.
• Ensure accounting activities of HIMSS international offices comply with GAAP for currency translation and foreign tax liability (VAT).
• Establish and maintain systems and controls for integrity of financial data and processes.
• Lead financial system enhancements and work with NetSuite, Concur, and ADP on implementations.
• Deliver audit work papers and reconciliations on a timely basis; provide QA of interim financial information.
• Advise CFO/CEO on accounting policies and financial reporting under GAAP.
