Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States seeks a Field Service Engineer for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). You will travel to customer substations and power facilities nationwide, delivering hands-on support through installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover of GIS equipment in live environments.

You will lead on-site activities, coordinate with customers and subcontractors, maintain site documentation, and ensure safety and operational reliability.

Qualifications

• Work authorization to work in the United States.
• Engineering degree or related discipline preferred but not mandatory.
• 2–4 years of relevant field/construction experience, ideally in power.
• Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Strong communication skills for field/customer work.
• Ability to manage teams and resolve on-site conflicts.
• MS Office tools, including MS Project, proficiency.
• Fluency in English; other European languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site supervision for GIS installation and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot issues with field personnel and subcontractors.
• Oversee maintenance activities and ensure quality outcomes.
• Maintain detailed site documentation and test data.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers.
• Collaborate with customers to achieve service outcomes.
• Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and supplies on site.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and procedures.
