Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support GIS at customer substations nationwide in the United States. You will perform hands-on electrical/mechanical work, install, commission, test, and handover projects, supervise on-site activities, and lead troubleshooting with teams and subcontractors.

The role requires travel up to 80%, strong electrical/mechanical skills, and the ability to read technical drawings and contracts.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of proven field service experience.
• Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel up to 80%, including to Canada and Mexico.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support through GIS project execution from installation to handover.
• On-site supervision for installation and commissioning of GIS substations.
• Lead troubleshooting with field personnel and subcontractors.
• Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities to ensure quality execution.
• Maintain detailed site documentation and test data.
• Communicate with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers for smooth site execution.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
