Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at customer substations across the United States. You’ll provide hands-on engineering, from installation through handover, at multiple sites with safety and reliability as priorities.

The role requires 2–5 years in technical field service, an engineering degree (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent, and the ability to travel up to 80%, including to Canada and Mexico.

Qualifications

• Requires 2–5 years of proven field service experience.
• Electrical or mechanical engineering degree preferred.
• Read and interpret contracts, specifications, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical field support through installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover.
• Oversee GIS substation installation and commissioning on-site.
• Lead crews and coordinate with subcontractors at customer sites.
• supervise maintenance activities and ensure quality outcomes.
• Maintain thorough site documentation and safety compliance.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams for smooth site execution.
