Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States is seeking a Field Service Engineer for GIS projects. You will operate directly at customer substations and power facilities nationwide, supporting installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover in active environments.

This role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, leadership of field crews, and the ability to travel up to 80% including to Canada and Mexico.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of proven experience in technical field service work.
• Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Experience leading crews on electrical projects.
• Ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and test equipment software.
• Able to travel up to 80%, including to Canada and Mexico.
• Valid US driver's license.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support throughout GIS project execution, including installation and commissioning.
• On-site supervision for installation and commissioning of GIS substations.
• Manage troubleshooting with field personnel and subcontractors.
• Oversee contracted maintenance activities.
• Maintain site documentation and data records.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers for site execution.
• Work closely with customers on-site to support service outcomes and satisfaction.
• Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and supplies at job sites.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.
