Job summary

Gilead in Clinton, CT seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for a 35‑hour day shift serving both the Clinton adult residential support program and the Old Saybrook adolescent residential program. The RN ensures well‑being, oversees health‑related medical care, and guides non‑medical staff in clinical matters.

Applicants should have community treatment and crisis intervention competence, with five years in mental health/addictions.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with CT licensure.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program preferred.
  • ANCC Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred.
  • Five years of experience in the mental health and/or addictions field.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical knowledge regarding severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders as well as medical knowledge related to health and well‑being.
  • Support the Program Director in leading an effective program through clinical services and best practice models of care.
  • Maintain contact with MDs to coordinate medical and psychiatric care of individuals.
  • Work closely with pharmacies to facilitate proper pharmaceutical care.
  • Provide guidance and peer‑support regarding medical care in their respective program.
  • Conduct Health Histories, Health Assessments, and medical evaluations of clients’ emergent medical issues.
  • Make appropriate community referrals based on assessments and evaluations to meet clients’ basic health needs.
  • Provide ongoing medical education to case managers informally and in training formats.
  • Ensure proper orientation, training, and management of the medication self‑administration system.
  • Complete all required documentation electronically and on paper in a timely manner.
  • Acting with compassion, integrity, and ethics.

Job description

Gilead is looking for an experienced RN to fill a 35-hour a day shift residential nursing role split between our Clinton, CT adult residential support program and Old Saybrook, CT adolescent residential program. The Program Nurse is responsible for ensuring and advocating for the well-being and stability of individuals through the support of non-medical staff members. The RN also oversees health-related medical care and pharmacological issues. Applicants must demonstrate competence in and knowledge of community treatment, psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a Registered Nurse, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program.
  • Connecticut licensure for Registered Nurse required. Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred.
  • Five years of experience in the mental health and/or addictions field.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.

This is a non-union position and pays $40.35 - $45.00 per hourdependent on level of education and experience
