Gilead Community Services, Inc. seeks a Recovery Assistant for its Middletown area Mental Health Intensive program.

The role supports women with major mental illness and co-occurring disorders through coaching, mentoring, advocacy, education, and practical assistance in a 40‑hour per week schedule (Tue–Sat, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM). The position emphasizes teaching daily living skills, money management, and vocational development, with optional education benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand needs of clients with severe mental health and substance use disorders through training and education.
• Assist with meal preparation, household chores, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and money management to develop daily living skills.
• Provide recovery‑oriented services emphasizing dignity, respect, and inclusion of family and other natural supports.
• Coordinate and arrange transportation to treatment, community and social outings, and essential appointments.
• Work with the treatment team to support clients’ mental health, teach symptom management, and assess risk as needed.
• Act with compassion, integrity, and ethics.

Gilead Community Services is seeking an attentive and recovery-oriented Recovery Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary team in our Mental Health Intensive program for women.

About the position:

The Recovery Assistant for Gilead’s Middletown area adult Mental Health Intensive program works Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (40 hours per week)providing coaching, mentoring, advocacy, educational, and supportive services in a program serving women with major mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders and histories of significant trauma. The individual in this role also performs or assists with household chores and provides teaching and training in areas such as money management, daily living skills, and the development of vocational skills. • Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing

This is a union position and pays $18.89per hour.

• Understanding needs of clients experiencing severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders through Gilead’s training and education
• Assisting with meal preparation, household chores, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and money management, in the teaching of daily living skills
• Providing recovery-oriented services with an emphasis on dignity, respect, and inclusion of family and other natural supports
• Assisting with coordination and provision of transportation to treatment, community and social outings, and other essential appointments
• Working with the treatment team to support clients’ mental health, providing education and training regarding symptom management, and assessing for risks as necessary
• Acting with compassion, integrity, and ethics.
