Job summary

PeaceHealth in Oregon is seeking a Patient Access Representative for Gastroenterology on a Per Diem/Relief, Day shift. The role handles patient registration, insurance verification and scheduling coordination within the gastroenterology clinic.

Salary ranges from $23.16 to $31.26 per hour, with consideration of education, experience and collective bargaining terms. The position supports a busy outpatient setting and requires strong customer service skills and healthcare terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Preferred or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year Medical office or related customer service experience.
• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registers/registers patients with accurate patient demographic, financial data; may register patients using varying methods.
• Collects patient balances, co-payments, co-insurance, or other payment types.
• Verifies coverage and ensures all insurance requirements are met; obtains prior authorization and/or referrals as appropriate prior to patient arrival.
• Responds to customer inquiries.
• Assists with departmental coverage as needed.
• Manages daily appointment schedules including reminder calls and referrals.
• May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
