Job summary

AECOM is seeking a staff geotechnical engineer to support surface mining, mine waste storage and heavy civil design and analysis within the Mining Division. The candidate will have broad experience in supporting surface mining operations and the design and evaluation of waste rock storage, heap leach, and tailings facilities.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Candidate should have PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Proficiency with industry software such as GeoStudio, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs portions of mid- to large, complex projects under supervision.
• Plans, directs and performs geotechnical exploration and testing programs (30% travel/field time).
• Evaluates geotechnical aspects including liquefaction, seepage, slope stability and settlement analyses.
• Prepares and reviews calculation packages, drawings, and specifications.
• Develops geotechnical reports and presents results to internal and client teams.
• Reviews instrumentation and prepares monitoring reports.
