Job summary

Eremid Genomic Services, LLC in Kannapolis, NC is seeking a Clinical Staff Scientist I – Genomics to perform clinical and research testing using next generation sequencing platforms under the direction of the Lab Manager. The role requires hands-on molecular biology work with emphasis on NGS and QC processes in a CRO setting.

Qualifications

• MS or BS in genomics or a related field with a focus in molecular biology.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Next Generation Sequencing workflow.
• Expertise in RNA and DNA manipulation including extraction, purification, amplification, and sequencing.
• Competence with laboratory instrument operating and management systems.
• Experience in protocol design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of CLIA, CAP, GLP, or other regulated laboratory regulations.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to calmly and professionally resolve issues with diplomacy and tact.

Responsibilities

• Effectively and efficiently performs laboratory testing, including RNA and DNA extraction, sample quality assessment, NGS library preparation, and sequencing (Illumina preferred).
• Accurately reports laboratory test results to staff and leadership.
• Operates computer hardware and software programs.
• Adheres to laboratory QA policies, documenting all quality control activities.
• Contributes to daily lab tasks including management of consumables and equipment maintenance.
• Assists in writing technical laboratory procedures.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
