Job summary

PowerSecure, Inc. is seeking a Service Technician – Commercial Generators in Charlotte, NC to perform preventive maintenance and repair of generator and power distribution equipment under contract. You’ll provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance issues.

The role requires multilevel technician experience, ability to read schematics, and strong troubleshooting skills; travel to customer sites is expected, with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Level II requires 3 years field experience servicing generator systems (500 kW+).
• Level III requires 6 years field experience with 500 kW+ and preventive maintenance.
• Level IV requires 10 years field experience with advanced controls and loadbanking.
• Ability to perform tri-annual maintenance and engine diagnostics.
• HS diploma or GED; related military experience or field experience.
• Expert in engine repairs; experience with Volvo and PSI engines.
• Understanding of ATS and able to troubleshoot with minimal direction.
• Able to read schematics; familiar with Woodward, Beckwith, PLC equipment.
• Read technical instructions and safety manuals; observe safety standards.
• Mentor mid to high level technicians.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel to customer sites with independent work structure.
• Provide 24x7 on-call services as required.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and instruments.
• Battery installations and replacements.
• Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Interface with customers and communicate status to office.
• Protect proprietary information and records.
• Use test equipment as necessary.
• Coordinate on-site subcontractors as needed.
• Maintain company vehicle in safe condition.
• Ensure work meets PSS standards and complete paperwork timely.
• Provide technical support and maintain documentation.
• Attend training and own personal tools.
• Cross train in other areas as needed.
