Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a GenAI Platform Engineer to own the technical build and deployment of Gemini Enterprise solutions on Google Cloud. You will translate backlog into working agentic applications, integrate RAG pipelines, and ensure delivery quality for higher education and SLED clients.

This remote-friendly, hybrid role offers in-office 24 hours per week within 30 miles of an office and a compensation range of $130,000–$150,000.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building GenAI/agentic AI solutions in production.
• Experience with large language models and prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or grounding techniques.
• Familiarity with Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol and multi-agent orchestration patterns.
• Cloud data, compute, and access-control services supporting AI workloads (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Run) on Google Cloud.
• Google Cloud certification preferred (Professional ML Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect).
• Experience building retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and integrating LLMs with enterprise data sources.
• Software engineering fundamentals with Python and SDKs for production-quality integrations.
• Experience building evaluation harnesses and regression tests for LLM/agent outputs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy agentic assistants and GenAI applications on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and grounding using the platform's capabilities.
• Integrate Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol and multi-agent orchestration for complex engagements.
• Build live API and tool-call integrations with client systems (SIS, ERP, casework).
• Deliver high-quality, secure solutions and participate in code/configuration reviews.
