Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least three months gastroenterology or other clinical related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic Medical Terminology preferred.
• Ability to use hospital information system and basic computer functions (fax/copier/scanners).
• Ability to communicate effectively with providers, management, staff, and patients and to interpret clinical notes and physician orders.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Demonstrates calm, practical problem solving and the ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Must be approachable and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Arrange efficient scheduling of procedures ordered by physicians.
• Coordinate schedules with physicians and facilities.
• Prepare and complete patient consent forms and hospital orders; obtain doctor signatures.
• Work with authorization specialist to secure approvals.
