Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking an entry-level Field/Service Technician based in Cambridge, OH. You will install, repair and replace gas distribution facilities, service residential and commercial customers, and operate related equipment.

The role requires living within 25 miles of Cambridge and being available for emergency callouts and overtime. Training and OQ qualifications will be provided, with a path to advancement to Technician 2 over two years.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools for field repair.
• Able to perform basic math and keep legible records.
• Strong written and oral communication; team oriented.
• Detail-oriented with minimal supervision.
• Able to read gauges and dials accurately.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment assessments and DOT safety requirements.
• Willing to work in all weather and respond to emergency calls.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace distribution facilities (main lines and services).
• Operate and maintain construction equipment as assigned.
• Serve residential and commercial customers.
• Operate light earth-moving equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Install/inspect gas meters, regulators, and house lines; test for leaks.
• Advise customers and contractors on service installations; turn gas on/off as needed.
• Read meters, collect delinquent bills, and handle curb box maintenance.
• Respond to emergency calls and work overtime as required.
