Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
• Basic math, legible records and clear communication required.
• Ability to work well in a team and stay detail-oriented.
• Reading/interpreting gauges and dials is essential.
• Certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
• Must pass DOT Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan (AMPP) regulations.
• Willingness to respond to emergency calls and overtime as needed.
• Must pass pre-employment assessments and background checks.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and adhere to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace distribution facilities and operate construction equipment.
• Serve residential and commercial customers.
• Operate light earth-moving equipment (backhoe, side boom, tamper, Hydra-crane).
• Maintain and transport equipment and materials (cleaning, greasing).
• Install meters, settings, regulators; test service and house lines for leaks.
• Use test instruments to install and service gas appliances and locate leaks.
• Investigate gas service issues (no gas, leaks, odors, high bills).
• Advise plumbers and customers on service and house line installations.
• Turn gas on/off for customers and read meters; locate/repair curb boxes.
• Ensure readiness for emergency response and maintain safety procedures.
