Job summary

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is seeking a part-time Game Club Teen Assistant to support weekly STEAM programming and youth activities at East Boston. The role involves assisting in a 1x/week Thursday game club, helping with setup, facilitation, and outreach, and fostering peer mentoring among teens.

You will report to the Youth Programs Coordinator and collaborate with MLCS Youth Programs staff.

Job description

This is a part-time, 6-8 hour/week position.

This is a seasonal position with an end-date of December 23, 2026.

Schedule:

Office hours are Monday-Friday from 11am-7pm and shifts will take place within these windows plus occassional Saturday shifts opportunities

Compensation:

$15-17 per hour

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS)

is a multi-service organization in the heart of the Maverick Landing housing development in East Boston. Our mission is to build a faircommunity by uplifting and supporting families, promoting community health, and nurturing resident and youth leadership & creativity.We do this by offering wrap around resident services, adult education classes such as ESOL and digital literacy, robust youth and family programming, weekly food distributions, and housing advocacy and support.

Our team is looking to hire a Game Club Teen Assistant to assist in program facilitation andcoordination in our weekly S.T.E.A.M programming.

This role will work alongside MLCS’ Youth Programs Staff to facilitate a 1x/week Thursday club that focuses on gaining hands-on board game knowledge and conceptual understandings. The Game Club Teen Assistant will act as a trusted peer mentor to youth participants, supporting group set-up and clean-up, facilitation, and outreach, as well as other program deliverables.MLCS’s S.T.E.A.M programming acts as an opportunity for community members to create a space where young people can come to learn new skills, work on long term creative projects, and nurture a creative community.

This role will work to help lead a weekly drop-in session offered to teen participants to give space to opportunities for healthy social gathering and exposure to enriching board games. Long term, there is hope to use our wide array of equipment to develop a custom game. The GameClub Teen Assistant should be interested in supporting healthy peer-to-peer relationships anddeveloping or strengthening their technical skills. This role comes with the opportunity to learnabout the world of board games. The Game Club Teen Assistant will have access to a wide array of technologies like laser printers, Risograph printers and 3D printing machines to create creative projects with the community. The Game Club team will occasionally collaborate with other youth teams on larger events and celebrations

The Game Club Teen Assistant will report to our Youth Programs Coordinator and will work alongside and receive supervision from Youth Programs Staff.
