Job summary

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) in East Boston is seeking a part-time Friday Kickback Teen Assistant to support weekly Friday S.T.E.A.M. and social gathering activities for local grade-school youth.

The role involves event setup, materials gathering, facilitation, outreach, and collaboration with MLCS’s Youth Programs Coordinator and Community Engagement Leads. You will work 11am–7pm with occasional Saturday shifts, 8–10 hours per week, and gain experience in project planning,

Job description

This is a part-time, 8-10 hour/week position.

This is a seasonal position with an end-date of December 23, 2026.

Schedule: Office hours are Monday-Friday from 11am-7pm and shifts will take place within these windows plus occassional Saturday shifts opportunities

Compensation: $15-17 per hour

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS)is a multi-service organization in the heart of the Maverick Landing housing development in East Boston. Our mission is to build a faircommunity by uplifting and supporting families, promoting community health, and nurturing resident and youth leadership & creativity.We do this by offering wrap around resident services, adult education classes such as ESOL and digital literacy, robust youth and family programming, weekly food distributions, and housing advocacy and support.

Our team is looking to hire a Friday Kickback Teen Assistant to assist in program facilitationand coordination in our weekly kid’s Friday S.T.E.A.M & social gathering programming.

This role will work in a team led by MLCS’ Community Engagement Leads to facilitate a 1x/week Friday event that focuses on providing opportunities for the local community’s grade-school youth to access S.T.E.A.M activities and a peer-led space.

The Friday Kickback Teen Assistant will act as a trusted peer mentor to youth participants, supporting event planning, materials gathering, set-up and clean-up, activity facilitation, andoutreach, as well as other program deliverables. MLCS’s youth programming acts as an opportunity for community members to create a space where young people can come to learn new skills, access S.T.E.A.M opportunities and nurture a safe community.This role will work to help lead a weekly drop-in event offered to youth participants to give space to opportunities for healthy social gathering and exposure to S.T.E.A.M activities. The Kickback Teen Assistant should be interested in supporting healthy peer-to-peer relationships and developing or strengthening their event planning and budgeting skills.

This role comes with the opportunity to learn about career development and different creative applications and software. The Friday Kickbacks Teen Assistant will have access to a wide array of technologies like laser printers, Risograph printers and 3D printing machines to create creative projects with the community. The Friday Kickbacks team will occasionally collaborate with other youth teams on larger events and celebrations

Friday Kickback Teen Assistant will report to our Youth Programs Coordinator and will work alongside and receive supervision from MLCS’s Community Engagement Leads.
