Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily store operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position over a limited period.

The candidate will help manage inventory, payroll and banking-related procedures, while ensuring a safe, clean, and well-stocked store environment and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of store safety and security policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and related paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Assist in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash handling integrity and security practices.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and cost-control opportunities.
