Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily operations, including supervising staff, inventory, stocking, paperwork, and store needs. This role is for a limited development period to prepare an external candidate for the Store Manager position.

You will help with recruiting, merchandising, inventory, standard operating procedures, cash handling, and customer service leadership while supporting opening/closing and store safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Support store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain a safe, clean, well-stocked store environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
