Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and handling paperwork. This role is intended to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and maintaining a safe, clean store environment.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Capable of basic math including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Able to use IBM cash register and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understand safety and cash-control policies (deposits, keys, SAFE/STARS).
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and related paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Respect company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cashier accountability and bank deposits.
• Maintain clean, safe store environment.
