Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) to lead assigned departments and develop future leaders. You will work closely with the Club Manager, drive departmental performance, and ensure exceptional member service.

As a trainee, you will receive targeted development towards a specific track (Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience) and will oversee policy execution, GOLD standards, and daily club operations to support strong business results.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager.
• Strong drive for results and solid work ethic; customer service oriented.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to lead and motivate a large team.
• Knowledge of shrink controls, cross-functional leadership, and store operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic department leadership across Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard team members for assigned departments.
• Oversee labor planning and scheduling aligned with trends and budget targets.
• Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management with accurate stock levels.
• Champion member experience standards (GAA, GOLD).
• Maintain high standards; ensure readiness and clean, safe operations daily.
• Lead talent management, performance reviews, and promotions decisions.
• Utilize club tools and reporting to identify opportunities and drive results.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies; internal/external audits.
