Job summary

CareMed Health Solutions is seeking a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive wound care to residents in skilled nursing facilities. You will diagnose, treat, and manage wounds while coordinating with facility staff and the resident's primary care physician.

The ideal candidate has an Arkansas NP license, board certification, and experience with wound care and long-term care settings. Familiarity with EMR systems and DME is essential, with a willingness to obtain wound care

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted NP license in Arkansas.
  • Board Certification is required.
  • DEA licensure is optional.
  • Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
  • Clinical background in wound care including chronic or infected wounds.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiologies.
  • Ability to stage pressure injuries per NPIAP.
  • Familiar with wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.
  • Experience with wound VACs and DME; pressure-relieving devices.
  • Wound certification is preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Experience in long-term care settings.
  • Ability to work with an EMR.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide wound care services for long-term care patients in skilled nursing facilities.
  • Prescribe medications, including controlled substances following Arkansas law.
  • Order, review, and follow up on treatments and diagnostic tests.
  • Communicate with nursing home staff about changes in patient condition or care plan.
  • Collaborate with the primary care physician to coordinate patient care.

WOUND NP ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with AR Law.
  • Order, review, and/or follow-up with treatments and diagnostic testing.
  • Communicate with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed to discuss changes in condition.
  • and/or the care plan.
  • Collaborate with the primary care physician.
Wound Np Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of Arkansas.
  • Board Certification.
  • DEA licensure (Optional)
  • Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
  • Clinical background of wound care; including but not limited to chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds
  • Must be comfortable with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
  • Must be comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP
  • Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.
  • Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/ reducing devices
  • Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified
  • Experience working in a long-term care setting.
  • Ability to work with an EMR.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
