Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior across elementary to high school levels. You will plan progress, collaborate with teachers, and support both in-class and after-school activities in a structured AmeriCorps program.

Training is provided, and you will work with partner teachers to monitor progress and foster a positive learning environment within City Year locations nationwide.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success
• Plan and monitor student progress
• Collaborate with teachers on instruction
• Be willing to undergo training

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills varying learning activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Develop interpersonal skills throughout the day
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to monitor progress
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space
• Support extended day and after-school programs
• Co-lead events recognizing student growth
