Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

You will plan and monitor individual progress, collaborate with teachers on classroom instruction, and support whole-school initiatives. Training is provided; the role is entry-level, paid, and full-time, with benefits and opportunities through City Year.

Qualifications

• Experience is not necessary; 2-4 weeks of training provided at the beginning of the year.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; DACA status not eligible.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).
• Background check required and be willing to work with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Coaches and mentors students to achieve academic success.
• Plans and monitors individual student progress and works with teachers on class instruction.
• Provides 1:1 and small-group support to identified students.
• Develops literacy and math skills through varied learning activities by student level.
• Creates an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
