Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, paid full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students in classrooms and through individualized coaching. AmeriCorps members help students earn academic progress, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors, while partnering with teachers.

You will receive initial training and work with teachers and school staff, focusing on student growth and community engagement. The program starts mid-summer 2025, with location-based start dates.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary; 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year.
• Work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Assist with classroom activities and student progress tracking.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and monitor student progress.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
