Job summary

The Salvation Army Booth Brown House in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Youth Advocate to support youth at shelter and housing programs by spending quality time, planning programs, and assisting with office tasks. Wage ranges from $17.23 to $20.65 hourly with a night differential during 12am–8am.

The FT role covers 40 hours weekly, scheduled Wednesday–Sunday from 12am to 9:30am at 1471 Como Ave West, St. Paul, MN 55108.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; two years of college preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience in a social service setting preferred.
• Ability to work with youth from diverse backgrounds and maintain confidentiality.
• Must pass background checks.
• Must complete CPI, CPR, and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
• Computer skills required.
• Safe From Harm training to be completed within first 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere and foster respectful relationships with staff and youth.
• Meet and greet youth professionally and develop positive relationships.
• Orient new youth to Booth Brown House policies and rules.
• Assist youth in locating resources and services in the community and support independent living skills.
• Facilitate groups and activities that promote positive youth development.
