Job summary

180 Degrees, Inc. seeks a Youth Advocate (PT) for Brittany's Place Youth Shelter in St. Paul, MN. The role offers a weekend-focused schedule (6 am–2 pm, Sat-Sun, every other weekend) and pays $21.50–$22.00 per hour, with a $600 sign-on bonus.

It includes PTO, insurance options, a 401K match, and holidays. The position is on-site and supports youth aged 12–19 in trauma-informed care. As part of a dedicated shelter team, you’ll build trust with youth, perform milieu management, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance; ability to drive company vehicle.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Experience working with youth preferred.
• Must be able to lift and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Ability to walk stairs and navigate shelter environments.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to build rapport while maintaining boundaries.
• De-escalation and crisis response skills.
• Strong observation and communication skills.
• Basic food preparation and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Be a stabilizing, trustworthy presence for youth navigating trauma and instability.
• Build genuine relationships to help youth feel seen, safe, and supported.
• Manage the day-to-day rhythm of the shelter: milieu management, structure, and support.
• De-escalate tense moments with calm, skilled intervention.
• Assist with daily living needs to support healing foundations.
• Support medication management to keep youth safe and on track.
• Collaborate with a team of Youth Advocates and case managers for consistency.
• Document and contribute to case management goals with measurable youth impact.
